A High School Prank But Everyday State School Event
Some of the stranger things about our private education system is that firstly, the schools are known as Public Schools. This is nonsense of course – they are no more public than Buckingham Palace, although each and every tax payer in the land and the wider environs of it do actually pay huge sums towards its upkeep and repair. There are several ‘public’ schools in these parts – the town of Bedford for example has more than 10 in one concentrated area. The original school was founded in 1550 something – for the sons of gentry and others. Bedford Modern sprung up from the original Bedford school but then began to offer more modern approach to teaching and a greater emphasis on sporting achievement. Many a well known rugby and cricket captain has hailed from the Modern. Great japes and fun to be had around Bedford town in all these years.
