Finding Out What’s Needed To Teach In Scotland

It has long been recognised that the schooling systems between Scotland and the rest of the UK differes immensely.  Many people and institutions fully understand and promote the notion that Scotland does offer a greater emphasis on the core subjects and their examinations at higher level reflect this achievement.  Knowing how to get into teaching in Scotland is critical – it’s a very well regarded occupation and take up of training is very high.  So what qualifications are needed to teach there – well, you need to start with the Initial Teacher Education programme which is based through university.  Two types are either a four year undergraduate degree programme or a one year postgraduate course, the Professional Graduate Diploma (PGDE).  To gain an undergraduat course you need at least three qualifications within the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework.  For the PGDE, you need to have an existing degree as well as good English and Maths qualifications meeting their minimum levels.   Full details of how to set abut getting the right levels in English, Maths and Sciences and everything else needed for this career choice are found on excellent supply online courses.
