Testing The Tests Brought Life Changes
Oh how I well remember testing out many of e-learning courses that were being considered to become mandatory around the department from when I served as a junior civil servant. They were quite basic tests at first but although we all groaned about having to spend time logging on and doing them, they were actually very helpful and probably did improve the way we worked. Knowing the differences between how our Scottish colleagues approached the same case work was quite an eye opener. They had entirely different methods of dealing with the vetting of claims and inputting of the data. One joint training course concerned anti fraud exercises – this particular one changed much of the way I did my job – making me a great deal more vigilant in my case work and my home life. I’m sure the colleagues I met whilst carrying out these tests feel the same way.
